BOB MACAULEY

Bob Macauley had a huge impact on the development of the “new” Sisters High
School, after the absence of a community high school for 25 years. He was
instrumental in the opening of the Sisters Middle/High School in 1992, starting as a
coach and instructor, then serving as SHS assistant principal starting in 1998, and
ultimately becoming SHS principal in 2002. He continued to serve as principal of
Sisters High School through 2011, when he then became principal at Glencoe High
School in the Hillsboro, Oregon School District. Coach Macauley also was head
football coach from 1992 through 2011 (with a short gap during 2008) and built the
program from the ground up into an Oregon powerhouse, leading the team to
state championships in 1998 and 2000. He was named Oregon football coach of the
year four times. During his tenure as coach and principal, Bob helped to establish
and promote relationships that resulted in the community overwhelmingly
embracing and supporting the Sisters schools. He also helped establish fundraising
programs, such as the Outlaw Open, that have raised hundreds of thousands of
dollars for the schools. However, while Bob strived for success in the classroom
and on the playing fields, he was most concerned with the building of teamwork
and the character of each individual – a true “maker of men and women.”
