STAN WILLIAMS
Stan Williams took Sisters High School by storm after having transferred from Bend High
School. He immediately starred in a number of athletic endeavors and in the school, and
graduated from SHS in 1958. On the football field, Stan was tailback for the state
championship team and played in the Shrine All-Star game. He was second team All-
State in basketball his junior year (23-2) and first team in 1958 (23-2). On the baseball
field, Stan batted .414 and played shortstop, catcher, and pitcher. Stan also found time
to participate on the track, running the 100 yard dash, throwing the high jump, and high
jumping. Stan was in the Honor Society his senior year and was junior class president.
He then played basketball (2 year starter) and baseball (All League and a 4 year starter) at
Linfield College, before beginning a 30 years plus teaching and coaching career (football,
basketball, and baseball), primarily in Madras, Oregon.
