THE GREEN BROTHERS
(JONATHAN, CHRISTIAN, AND DAVID)
Jonathan Green (SHS Class of 2003), Christian Green (SHS Class of 2004), and
David Green (SHS Class of 2004) formed the core of an Oregon high school golfing
dynasty. Led by Coach Jeff Barton and with tremendous golfers from top to
bottom, the SHS golf teams of the early 2000’s were among the best of the best.
Jonathan, the eldest of the three brothers, finished fifth in state his freshman year
and the team finished second at state. The following spring (2001), David and
Christian joined the team and SHS won its first golf state championship, with
Jonathan taking top medal honors. The following year the team took runner-up,
with each of the Green Brothers finishing in the top 15. During spring 2003, SHS
again won the state championship, this time with David taking top medal honors
and with Christian finishing as runner-up. After Jonathan’s graduation, Christian
and David continued the dynasty as the SHS team finished 2
nd
at state (with
Christian and David both finishing in the top 10). The three brothers continued
their excellence after SHS. Jonathan and Christian both played golf at Oregon
State University, with Jonathan twice being named Academic All-American. David
went into Timbersports, finishing as the Stihl Timbersports Western Collegiate
winner for 2009 and 2010. Oregon may never see a trio of golfing brothers quite
like the Green Brothers.
