CORTNEY ELLIS
Cortney Ellis (SHS Class of 1999) Portrait of an All-Star. Cortney was a model
student-athlete who excelled on the volleyball court and track, and in the
classroom, at both the high school and collegiate levels. Cortney was a core
member on the 1996 state championship volleyball team as a hitter and blocker.
On the track, Cortney was second to none in the long jump, winning the state
championship in 1999. Cortney was fast, strong, and athletic and, at one time, held
an astounding five school records, including the 100, 200, and long jump. Cortney
also excelled in the classroom, graduating in 1999 as an honor student, and was
named school athlete of the year for 1998 and 1999. Cortney continued her studies
and athletic career at the NCAA D1 level at Montana State University, where she
was named All-Academic and All-Conference. She finished her MSU athletic
career with the 2

best mark in the pole vault, and presently sits at 4
th
all-time for
MSU and 8
th
all-time for the Big Sky Conference. Cortney always had a great eye
for detail, and has continued her pursuit of excellence in the field of photography,
developing into a renowned fine art newborn and children’s photographer.
