SISTERS FOLK FESTIVAL
The Sisters Folk Festival, Inc. – A Year-Round Cultural Arts Organization. SFF has
been a mainstay non-profit organization for the Sisters community, and has
immeasurably supported the Sisters School District and its students in particular.
Founded in 1995 through the efforts of numerous individuals, including creative
director Brad Tisdale, the SFF has contributed millions of dollars and countless
hours to the local community through its multitude of events and projects. While
primarily known as the entity behind the world-famous Sisters Folk Festival (which
has expanded into a year-round collection of community events, beyond the fall
Folk Festival), the SFF has become a mainstay for fundraising and arts education in
the Sisters community. In addition to the Folk Festival and a Winter Concert
Series, the SFF is responsible for (i) the Americana Project and the American Song
Academy, innovative music and arts education programs for Sisters students that
are collaborations among the SFF, Creative Education Resources, and the Sisters
School District, (ii) My Own Two Hands, which raises funds and provides students
with access to music, visual arts, dance and literary arts, and, (iii) Sisters Studio to
School, a collaboration between the SFF and the Sisters School District. These are
just some of the many education and fundraising programs organized and
supported by the SFF. Besides the numerous contributions the SFF and its
volunteers have made, SFF has set a national example for how one organization
can fully integrate cultural arts into a community – Enriching Lives Through the
Arts.
