NICOLETTE CALLAN
Nicolette Callan (SHS Class of 2001) – The Whole Package. In addition to being a
top student, Nicolette was a volleyball, basketball, and track star during her entire
SHS career, and was named SHS Athlete of the Year both her junior and senior
years. As one of her teachers noted, “Nicolette is the whole package – good
student, superior athlete, and most importantly, some I could always trust.
Nobody works harder.” While she excelled during her four years at SHS on the
basketball and volleyball courts, Nicolette was a force on the track and field. Upon
her graduation, Nicolette was the school record holder in the 100 high hurdles and
triple jump, and was in ranked in the top 10 in 10 events (and top five in most).
She was the state champion in the triple jump, and helped lead the Lady Outlaws
to the school’s first ever conference title and a third-place state finish. Nicolette
also was as driven academically as athletically. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts
degree at Western Oregon University, where she was conference All-Academic,
competed in the national championships in the javelin, and was named Women’s
Team Leader for the Western Oregon University team. Nicolette thereafter
obtained her Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine degree and a Master of Science
degree in Integrative Medicine Research. She has continued to be engaged in the
Sisters community as personal trainer, coach, and private practitioner, and has
been guest lecturer and researcher regarding her naturopathic and integrative
medicine expertise.
